Michael Stanker, Anchorage Alaska Lawyer
Michael Stanker grew up in California and Texas but settled in Alaska calling it home since 2016. He graduated cum laude from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California and obtained his law degree from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2009. After graduating law school Michael accepted a clerkship with the Supreme Court of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. After his clerkship he stayed on-island and worked as an Assistant Attorney General and later as the General Council for the territory’s Judiciary and Executive Director of the Law Revision Commision. In these various roles Michael litigated numerous cases involving civil rights, condemnation, contract disputes, and employment matters.
In 2016 Michael and his family were ready for a change, and they moved themselves and their two large dogs across the Pacific Ocean to Anchorage so Michael could accept a position as an Assistant Attorney General with the Alaska Department of Law. In this role Michael litigated a wide range of cases including employment discrimination, state licensing revocation, collections, and health and safety violations to name a few. Later Michael became an attorney-advisor with the U.S. Department of the Interior. While there he litigated numerous cases before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Merit System Protection Board, as well as handling hundreds of property damage, personal injury, and wrongful death cases.
Michael is a seasoned litigator and is admitted to practice in Alaska’s state and federal courts. Since joining the Law Office of Evan Barrickman in 2025, Michael has specialized in family law, criminal defense, personal injury, and civil litigation. When not working, Michael enjoys fishing, camping, and skiing with his wife, children, and dogs.
